So I go to look at the generator this morning and immediately
notice that it doesn't look quite right which causes me to pause and dig
into the situation a bit more where I find that during one of our many
forays over the sun baked washboard roads of Baja, the floor had dropped
out from underneath my Kohler generator (300 lbs at least)
along with the extra battery and its box, and the entire, precarious package
of electricity, acid, gas, wires and metal was being suspended just above
the pavement by my equally dubious spare tire... which happens to reside
just in front of the rear tires and axle assembly.
I, of course, realize that I can drive no further under the current
circumstances so I gather the elder statesmen of the RV Park and get opinions
on how to proceed. What we find out is pretty uncool. There
is no way to remove the generator without cutting through the fiberglass
shell of the Clipper and some of the wood framework too. From all
that we can tell, the Clipper was built from the generator out, because
there is absolutely no way to remove the SOB without chopping up the rig
(see dotted line)... so that is exactly what we do...
